Yvonne Gonzalez

A Quote from Pope John Paul II:

“Not everything which is technically possible is morally acceptable. Scientific work aimed at securing a quality of life more in keeping with human dignity is admirable, but it must never be forgotten that life is a gift, and that it remains precious even when marked by suffering and limitations. Life is a gift to be accepted and to be loved at all times, received without pay and to be placed without pay at the service of others.”

Project Safe Haven

A law in the state of Connecticut states that a baby can be dropped off in the emergency room of any hospital, anytime, anywhere in the state of Connecticut with no questions asked. This law assures protection rather than destruction of innocent life.

From the Womb to the Tomb

Human cloning does not treat any disease but turns human reproduction into a manufacturing process by which human beings are mass-produced to preset specifications.

Creating human life in a laboratory by cloning reduces human beings to mere products. Stem cells taken from consenting adults, and even from umbilical cords and the placentas, have the potential to provide new tissues for therapeutic use without any destruction of human life. The Catholic Church has no objection to research involving these alternative ways of procuring human stem cells, as long as prior informed consent has been obtained.

The fourth commandment reminds adult children of their responsibilities toward their parents. As much as they can, they must give them material and moral support in old age and in times of illness, loneliness, or distress.

Did you know that our local Knights of Columbus, All Saints Council #4303, has a memorial monument to the unborn located in front of the Council building on Main Street in Somers? The monument reads: "Respect Life from the Womb to the Grave". The Knights are planning a memorial service in the near future. Hopefully, all parishioners will attend. We’ll keep you informed.

State News:

As many of you recall, many of you had signed petitions to the CT General Assembly re: YES to Man and Woman in Marriage (HB5001) and NO to Same Sex unions (HB5002). These petitions, along with 1,500 from other parishes, were presented to Senator Kissel’s office.

In order to have a Pro-life voice in what happens in this state, we must be knowledgeable on upcoming bills. CT Right to Life Corp. brought Clarke Forsythe, President of Americans United for Life (AUL), to testify before the Judiciary Committee in Hartford on HB5747 - "An Act Concerning the Definition of a Person in the Penal Code." This legislation would allow 2 counts of murder to be brought against the accused if a pregnant woman were killed. (one charge for the mother and another for the pre-born baby). Twenty-eight states have this type of legislation. Clark’s testimony was excellent and many eyes were opened.
